Winter 2025 waitlist Haldane Club

We are excited to offer another session of after school chess on Thursdays. Chess has been proven to increase analytical and critical thinking skills. Chess makes creative problem solving into an enjoyable and stimulating game. Countless studies have shown that test scores, self - esteem, concentration and creative thinking increase after being exposed to chess.

We are currently teaching during the day chess classes at Haldane for grades 2-5. Each student will receive chess instruction as part of their classroom day once a week for a period of 10 weeks during the school year.

Chess Club is optional and open to grades 2-5, younger students can attend with prior approval. The Winter session of after school chess will meet once a week for 9 sessions on THURSDAY afternoons from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. The dates for the program are

If a class is canceled for any reason, we will hold a makeup class on a later Date. The fee for the classes is $145.  Signups are electronic.

Students will have a chess lesson and then have puzzle solving challenges before having the opportunity to practice against their peers. Students will be assigned exercises to work on in between sessions. There is an opportunity to join the Chess Team.
