We are excited to offer a Fall session of Tournament Chess on Mondays beginning 9/8. Chess has been proven to increase analytical and critical thinking skills. Chess makes creative problem solving into an enjoyable and stimulating game. Countless studies have shown that test scores, self - esteem, concentration and creative thinking increase after being exposed to chess. This class is for experienced players who wish to participate in tournaments.
Monday Tournament Chess is open to Saint Ann's students in grades 1-5. If there is room, additional students may be admitted by permission only The Fall session of this chess class will meet once a week on Monday afternoons from 3:15 – 4:45 PM at Chabad of Brooklyn Heights. There is after school pickup from Saint Ann's, which is included as part of the class fee. While this program is for Saint Ann's students, it is not affiliated with Saint Ann's School. The Fall 2025 dates for the program are: 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/27. 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24. 12/1, 12/8, 12/15. Please note there is no class on 10/13, 10/20. *If a class is canceled due to weather, we will hold a makeup class on a later date*.
Students will have a chess lesson and then have puzzle solving challenges before having the opportunity to practice against their peers. Students will be assigned exercises to work on in between sessions. There is an opportunity to form a competitive chess team where they will participate in local tournaments.
